Not just as a response to Heartbleed bug has a non-profit organisation Linux Foundation started iniciative to support critical open source projects for the global information infrastructure. Iniciative is backed by big companies such as Cisco, Fujitsu, Google, IBM etc. The aim is to create a better financial support, growth and reliability of widely used open source project. The first recipient of funds will be probably OpenSSL Software Foundation.
