Although is LinkedIn using HTTPS connection for user's login page, they are not using technology called HTTP Strict Transport Security (HSTS) that prevents any communication form being sent over HTTP instead of HTTPS. Requests send over "HTTPS" are replaced by "HTTP" requests. This is known as "SSL Striping" attack.
