CCleaner tool was compromised

Sept. 19, 2017

Piriform issued a security notification about its product CCleaner. They recently determined that their 32-bit version of the v5.33.6162 of CCleaner and the v1.07.3191 of CCleaner Cloud was compromised. It's estimated that those products could have been used by up to 3% of their customers. The compromise could cause the transmission of non-sensitive data (computer name, IP address, list of installed software, list of active software, list of network adapters) to a 3rd party computer server in the USA. Piriform pushed a notification for a new version so all computers with enabled auto-updates should be running new clean version of the tool. We recommend checking version of the installed application and scan your computer for viruses.
