Critical Apple login bug puts macOS High Sierra System at risk

Nov. 29, 2017

A major bug in Apple’s macOS gives anyone with physical access to a computer running the latest version of the High Sierra 10.13.1 operating system admin access simply by putting “root” in the user name field. You can protect your Mac, if you change your root password.

Update: As reaction to the security vulnerability as described earlier, Apple has released security update to address the issue.
