Prague, 23. December, 2015 - Ondřej Filip, CEO of CZ.NIC, and Dušan Navrátil, Director of the National Security Authority, concluded a public contract, under which in future years the Czech national domain administrator will operate the National Security Team CSIRT.CZ. This agreement was concluded under the Act on Cyber Security for an indefinite period. The CZ.NIC Association has operated the security team CSIRT.CZ since January 1, 2011 on the basis of the memorandum concluded with the Ministry of Interior of the Czech Republic, which was replaced by the memorandum with the National Security Authority on April 1, 2012.
“Thanks to the agreement with the National Security Authority will be able to continue the work we began in 2011, and continue to improve the quality of our services. Currently, for example, we are testing a new system of security incidents correlation on selected organizations. If everything works out as we plan, in the next year, the method of sending data on security incidents to end networks will become significantly more efficient,” said Ondřej Filip, CEO of CZ.NIC. “Of course we will continue our intensive support of awareness raising and educational projects, organize meetings of the Czech CSIRT teams and working groups.”
In the past, the National Security Team CSIRT.CZ addressed a series of incidents that involved both operators and end users. It is dealing with the incidents with various overlapping aspects where the role of the National Security Team CSIRT.CZ proved to be very important. Let’s mention, for example, the DoS attacks faced by mobile operators, banks and the media in 2013. Another significant case was the security alert in home routers known as “rom-0”. Members of the security team CSIRT.CZ are also involved in both local security projects (e.g. Turris) and the international ones (Honeynet Project, CS Danube).
